Any suggestions on how I can break the training plateau?
I just entered week 4 of a new exercise program for me. (It is a of those infomercial products seen on evenings and weekends. It focuses on basic training, but also with cardiovascular exercise, full body, and training specific area.) I was seeing great results the first 2-3 weeks. Not much weight loss (maybe 4 pounds), but a definite change in the notch belt use. The problem is that I have reached a plateau. I will not lose any weight and dimensions are not changing, as they were before. It is possible that you can enter into the trap of overtraining. I changed my diet, but the changes will only lead to deprivation and bad feeling. Any suggestions on how I can breaking the plateau effect?
Do not think I could have actually reached a plateau yet. If you've only been working four weeks and had not been doing plenty of exercise before you started this plan, you should continue to see the results for much longer than a month. One of the problems contributing to what appears to be a plateau is that you can control your weight too often. If you check your weight on a daily basis, for example, must be aware of changes. For example, if you drank two 8-ounce glasses of water before entering the scale, would "gain" a pound. (I put quotes around the gain, because your body naturally burn or urinating more than a pound in the next few hours.) Basically, your weight should be checked on a regular schedule, but not daily. I suggest to check your weight once a week at the same time each week (I use the morning of Friday). In the morning, before eating or drinking anything, is better than night, because you will have less fluctuation in weight in this way (plus it weighs a little less in the morning than at night!). But keep in mind, the fluctuation still exists. On any given day, people's bodies will fluctuate several kilos, and the same goes for a week. Do not lose hope because of a bad week. It is likely that next week will become to lose weight at a better price (despite four pounds in two or three weeks a lot of weight loss! not be sold short!). However, if you really believe that has reached a plateau, the best thing to do is change your workout in a small way.
